East River Road Curb and Sidewalk
Improvement Program – Phase II
I am pleased to announce that construction on the East River Road Curb and Sidewalk Improvement Program – Phase II will be starting on or about Monday, May 11, 2020. The Borough has awarded a contract to Lancha Construction who successfully completed the first phase of the project in 2017.
As a reminder, the Borough was awarded a Municipal Aid Grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation for $530,000 offsetting a majority of the project cost. Phase Two of the project will continue along East River Road from Blackpoint Road to Bingham Avenue. The work will be very similar in scope as recently completed between Ridge Road and Blackpoint Road.
East River Road will be closed daily to through traffic with detours established at Bingham Avenue and Ridge Road. Residents along East River Road, local business owners, employees, and patrons may have access with intermittent closures based on where the Contractor is working. As always, emergency personnel will have continuous access as needed. Please be patient as some traffic delays and parking issues are inevitable on a project of this scale.
Utility infrastructure mark-out has been completed, please keep flags and paint markings clear for as long as feasible. Please also mark any lawn sprinkler heads between the curb and sidewalk or immediately behind the sidewalk to reduce potential damage. Please identify any invisible pet fences that could be impacted by the work as well.
During this difficult time, the Borough has implemented a COVID-19 Emergency Protocol with restricted Borough Hall access, modified/remote work schedules, Social Distancing, and PPE in accordance with Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders. Lancha Construction will also be required to follow applicable safety precautions to complete this essential construction project.
Thank you,
Joseph K. Hemphill
Mayor
