2020 is shaping up to be a busy and productive year for the Rumson Environmental Commission. The Commission has appointed a new Chair, Kristen Rolfes Hall, and welcomes two new Commissioners, Diane Burke and Jody Sackett to join its existing members, Jennifer Crow, and Sue Binns.
Since 2016, the Rumson Environmental Commission has been working to establish partnerships and collaborations within our community to engage citizens in our efforts to protect our unique natural resources. The Commission’s goal is to educate our residents on what we can do to maintain and protect our land, water and air; facilitate the adoption of behaviors that will meet those ends; and motivate residents and local businesses to join in the effort.
In collaboration with the Department of Public Works the Commission has updated the Recycling Guidelines. The new document is available to download here.
In addition to working with the various boards, commissions and departments of Rumson Borough, the Commission will continue to collaborate with the schools and other stakeholders to host activities and events throughout the year to raise awareness of environmental issues. The Commission is in the process finalizing dates for Clean Up Your Parks Day and the Rally for the River Eco-Fest events.
The Environmental Commission meets six times a year on the second Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September and November at 6:00 PM in the Court House. Meetings are open to the public and the dates are posted on the Borough website calendar. Residents are encouraged to attend.
