Rumson First Aid Squad

The Rumson First Aid Squad, established in 1949, is an all-volunteer organization that provides emergency medical services to Rumson and surrounding communities as needed. Squad members are local residents – we are your neighbors. In addition to emergency medical responses, we provide stand-by coverage for local events, such as the annual fireworks display, local athletic races and games, and other community events. We respond to approximately 400 calls per year, and our services are always free of charge.

Oceanic Hook and Ladder Fire Co. No. 1

The Oceanic Hook and Ladder Fire Co. No. 1 was formed on May 22, 1879, by a small group of citizens who were interested in the welfare and growth of the community. They met in a store on the corner of Washington and Hunt Streets in the village of Oceanic, now part of the borough of Rumson. Oceanic Hook and Ladder was one of the first fire companies in this area. Our mission is to extinguish fire, protect life and property, and cooperate with the Borough of Rumson in civic improvements. The Company is proud to have served the people of Rumson for over 125 years.

Rumson Fire Company

The Rumson Fire Company (42-2) was started in September of 1905 when a small group of men met in the old school house that was located at approximatley the same place as the current firehouse on East River Road. Their charter was received on January 18, 1906.
