ZONING OFFICER (FT) – RUMSON BOROUGH.
Qualified candidate must have at least five (5) years’ experience in municipal zoning and land use development. Must have knowledge of general municipal regulations, policies, procedures and ordinances. Responsibilities include but are not limited to reviewing all zoning permit applications, subdivision and site plan applications, and conducting field inspections and special investigations to ensure compliance with various municipal ordinances. Must self- initiate and enforce rules and regulations in relation to various municipal ordinances and maintain records, files and reports. Candidate will serve as the Planning Board Secretary and Zoning Board Secretary. Management of stormwater permits and floodplain local permits will be required. CRS Program & GIS/Technology experience preferred. Monthly attendance at the Planning and Zoning Board meetings is required. Candidate will also serve as Representative for the Environmental Commission, Historic Preservation Commission and as a Liaison to the Affordable Housing Committee. Zoning Officer Certification preferred. Must possess a valid driver license in New Jersey. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

FIRE MARSHAL – RUMSON BOROUGH, Monmouth County.
Performs technical and administrative work as the chief administrator of the local enforcing agency, which includes the Borough of Rumson. Conducts the activities of the Fire Prevention Bureau. Includes enforcing regulations/ordinances pertaining to fire prevention/protection; inspecting commercial/institutional/other buildings/dwellings for fire hazards/compliance with New Jersey Fire Code; interpret fire prevention laws/regulations. Also performs inspections on home resales/rentals in order to issue Certificate of Smoke Detector/Carbon Monoxide Detector Compliance as needed. Requires valid Fire Official and Fire Inspector Certifications. All certifications must be issued from the State of NJ - online certifications are not acceptable. Requires minimum 5 years of experience in Fire Prevention. Valid NJ driver’s license required, experience as a firefighter is preferred.

Public Works Laborer
The Borough of Rumson is seeking two (2) Full-Time Public Works Laborers. Applicants must possess a valid NJ State Driver’s License and a Class B CDL License is preferred.
Prior experience in Public Works is also preferred. Parks maintenance experience is a plus. Forty (40) hours per week with full benefits including health, dental, State pension, life insurance and paid time off. Starting salary $32,500. Police Officer - Class III
The Rumson Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Class III Officer. Applicants must meet the following police Training Commission requirements:
Qualifications:
- Must be a retired officer who has previously served as a duly qualified, full time law enforcement officer in any municipality, county, agency of this state, bi-state agency, or federal agency, and must be living in New Jersey.
- Must be retired from that agency in good standing (necessary to have a letter of good standing issued by the agency from which officer retired, listing the date and type of retirement. A copy will be submitted to the PTC).
- Break in service may not exceed three (3) years.
- Must be less than 65 years of age for appointment.
- Must pass a psychological exam.
- Must pass a medical exam and have doctor complete Medical Certification Form.
- Must pass a Drug Test pursuant to Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Drug Testing Policy.
- Must have an updated background investigation.

Police Officer - Full-Time
The Rumson Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer. The applicant must have successfully passed the Monmouth County Chief’s Association Police Officers Entry Level Examination. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Qualifications:
- Must be between 18-34 years of age, have a valid New Jersey driver’s license, be a High School Graduate with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree or sixty (60) college credits from an accredited college or university.
- Must be a graduate of a New Jersey Police Training Commission Basic Course for Police Officers (Class A Certification) or a graduate of a New Jersey Police Training Commission Basic Course for Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer; and be eligible for a waiver from the PTC to attend the Basic Course for Police Officers Waiver Course.
