The Zoning Board of Adjustment consists of seven (7) regular members and one(1) alternate member appointed by the governing body. The Board may hear and decide requests for interpretation of the zoning map or ordinance.
The Board of Adjustment may grant a variance from the strict application of the zoning regulations of the Borough of Rumson. No variance or other relief may be granted by the Board unless such variance or other relief can be granted without substantial detriment to the public good and will not substantially impair the intent and purpose of the zone plan and zoning ordinance of the Borough of Rumson.
The Zoning Officer is charged with the duty of enforcing the zoning ordinance.
All meetings of the Zoning Board of Adjustment are open to the public, except such executive sessions authorized pursuant to state law. The regular meetings of the Board of Adjustment are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Charles S. Callman Court room in Borough Hall.
The Historical Commission researches older houses in the Borough of Rumson and provides support to the Planning and Zoning Board.
