An Open Letter to the Rumson Community
To Rumson Residents, Businesses and Organizations:
It is a crucial point in the history of our community, country and the world.
While it is easy to get caught up in the negatives surrounding this terrible virus, I have been proud of, and find comfort in, the stories I have seen demonstrating the spirit of not only our community, but the entire world. From increased community service efforts, to adhering to CDC and national health official guidelines for social distancing and proper hygiene, this mindset of working together and caring for our neighbors through public health and safety initiatives, I believe, will get us through this pandemic.
That said, over the last week, the borough has implemented a number of initiatives to ensure we can, to the best of our ability, remain operational for the public. These initiatives, combined with the Emergency Management Declaration I have signed, will contribute to our collective safety during this time.
Given the fluid nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue to update the COVID-19 Announcement and Information Center section of our website and send out periodic emails to our residents. Our goal is to have this website platform become a true source of accurate and timely information for everyone. With that in mind, I encourage all of you to join our Borough Emailing List if you have not done so already.
While we have followed many of the guidelines for restaurants, businesses and public health and safety measures provided by the national and state legislatures, it is important that we all adhere to these initiatives on a daily basis. In addition, I encourage you to focus on the increased time you may have with family members and loved ones. Be sure to check on any elderly community members you may know and see if they are in need of any assistance or support. Last but not least, I encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the options available through our local businesses for take-out and delivery as we weather this storm, together!
It is times like this that I am the most proud to be a part of this great community.
Sincerely,
Joseph K. Hemphill
Mayor
